Meerkat Manor: The Story Begins is a 2008 TV film created by Animal Planet and Oxford Scientific Films, documenting the life of ex-Leader: Flower.

While the Meerkat Manor TV series is filmed with a small crew of the actual meerkat researchers, the film uses a full-sized featured film crew and features footage of unknown meerkat "actors" used to represent the meerkats in the story. Some of its scenes were shot at a wildlife park in the UK, while others are reenactments of events created using camera tricks and trained film animals.
